My passion is for the victims of Domestic Violence and survivors of both sexes who have suffered abuse both verbal and physical, mostly women, who by one way or another,  feel helpless to do anything about their situation and the abuse. Their children are subjected to abuse and suffer abused too, thru no fault of their own.

These are not just any women they are our mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends.

Domestic Violence is not a distant statistic we can rationalize away. These people are innocent victims of crime that is being swept under the rug. Domestic Violence is a dirty little secret that the victims of it hide because of their fear or the unwarranted guilt they place on themselves.

When someone has the courage to come forward after surviving a traumatic life changing experience our community has a ethical duty to help them.

The life they save by coming forward may be your own or someone you love.

Domestic Violence

— In the United States, a woman is beaten every 15 seconds by a spouse, boyfriend or other assailant known to her.

–Many women in domestic violence situations are assaulted an average of 7-10 times before seeking assistance.

NATIONAL STATISTICS
• 1.5 million Women in the United States are assaulted by their intimate partners every year.
• One in three women experiences sexual violence in her lifetime.
• One in twelve women will be stalked in her lifetime.
• Nearly 30% of female homicide victims are killed by their husbands, former husbands, or boyfriends.
• Women of all races are equally vulnerable to attacks by intimate partners.
• Domestic violence causes more injury to adult women than cancer, heart attack, or stroke.
• 835,000 men are physically assaulted by an intimate partner every year.
• 25% of women and 7% of men experience rape or physical assault within their lifetime.
• 33% of female murder victims were killed by an intimate partner.
• 84% of spouse abuse victims are female.
• Over 1 million women and over 350,000 men are stalked annually.
• 34% of women become victims of sexual coercion in their lifetime.
• People 18 to 24 years old account for 11% of the population but account for 42% of domestic violence.
• 50% of battered women, who are employed, are harassed at work by their abusive partners.
• Children exposed to violence suffer symptoms of post traumatic stress syndrome.
• 60% of injuries by family violence are reported to the police.

86% of the women who obtain a restraining order against a violent partner report that the abuse either stopped or was greatly reduced.
