“Free Drink Tomorrow” By: Ronald L. Riedell

 “Quote of the week

Story one

Free Drinks Tomorrow

I witnessed a minor societal breakdown firsthand over the weekend.  A storm in the Laughlin, Nevada area brought rain and lots of water.  So much water and runoff from the storm that the Colorado River became polluted and turned brown from the run off.Brown River

People along the river were told to get out of the river; they did not understand why they were ordered out of the water or the dangers of Cholera and other water born diseases they would be susceptible to if they chose to stay.

The roads were impacted with angry people who wanted to get back to their hotels.  Traffic laws were often ignored….  When we arrived at the hotel, there was a note under our door explaining that the water was unsafe for internal use and that if we were to drink the water it must first be boiled.

The ice machines were shut down and tagged.  In the morning, there was no coffee except for small coffee makers that brewed coffee from bottled water.

Nothing more than a minor inconvenience for us, but it was a wakeup call for what might have been real trouble.

If a real natural or unnatural disaster struck, you are on your own.  All that matters is the here and now.  All you have is what you are wearing and carrying in your pockets.

As we were leaving town I saw this mural painted on the side of a building.  It demonstrates the fact that tomorrow never comes.20150719_105810

During the little inconvenience described above, nothing in the past seemed to matter, and future hopes and dreams faded away into what we do next?

Your trust and belief in God is in your heart at the time of the disaster there is no time to find it when disaster hits. Many will cry out to God during this type of trial. Although there will be no time for those who perish at the onset of a disaster.

As the five foolish virgins found out in the gospel of Matthew; there is not enough oil for everyone when the bridegroom comes and they were left behind.

You might be interested to know that we bring a small coffee pot for just these types of emergencies; thankfully, there was electricity to run the coffee pot.

As for me, if I can stay focused on the situation in front of me and adapt to my surroundings, I might be able to increases my chances of survival during a real disaster.

Quote of the week:

“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and women _ten_virginswent out to meet the bridegroom.  Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.  Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.  But at midnight there was a cry, “Behold!  The bridegroom is coming!  Come out to meet him!”  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.  The foolish said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.” But the wise answered, saying, “What if there isn’t enough for us and you?  You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.”  While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, “Lord, Lord, open to us. ” But he answered, “Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.” Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”

“The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.                                                                                                      Genesis 6:4   noah

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 6:5

As it was in the days of Noah,  so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
